About Me

Stefanie Adamek

Massage Therapist

I have studied Massage Therapy in Germany and Ireland (ITEC) and Neuromuscular Therapy with the National Training Centre in Cork. After personally benefiting from the power of massage, I became passionate about helping others to achieve relief from stress built up in the body through relaxation and the easing of muscle tension.

I am also a qualified Yoga and Pilates Teacher and a Personal Trainer.

Deep Tissue Massage/Sports Massage

Pressure and techniques used will always depend on the client and her/his needs on the day of treatment.

May include Neuromuscular Therapy and/or Cupping Therapy.

Helps break up scar tissue, which when left untreated, can slow recovery from injury.

Deep Tissue helps get blood, vital nutrients, and oxygen to damaged areas.

Inflammation, toxins, and other stresses can slow recovery. Deep tissue helps restore proper function by removing the toxins, reducing inflammation and increasing the range of motion by unlocking restricted areas and rigid tissue. Deep Tissue massage is very helpful for people with bad posture or chronic pain from muscle tension.

Conditions treated by deep tissue therapy:

  • Sciatica
  • Piriformis syndrome
  • Poor posture
  • Mobility restrictions
  • Back pain (especially low back pain)
  • Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)
  • Osteoarthritic pain
  • Tennis elbow ect.

Deep tissue is not considered a relaxation massage therapy although some people find it relaxing (especially for those that get regular treatments).

Relaxation/Therapeutic Massage

While therapeutic massage is often relaxing, the end goal of the session or series of sessions is not always about relaxation but may also aim to work on pain the client may be experiencing. Techniques used and pressure applied will depend on the clients' needs. Hot Stones can be booked as part of the treatment, but this needs to be requested at the time of booking please and at least 24hrs in advance.

This treatment is perfect as part of a regular maintenance program.

Neuromuscular Therapy

If a client presents with pain or injury, some of the below techniques will be part of the treatment.

NMT includes a wide range of soft tissue manipulative techniques including Soft Tissue Release (STR), positional release (PR) muscle energy technique (MET) and a precise and thorough application of massage techniques, mechanotherapy and mobilization techniques. A gentle but highly effective therapy. Neuromuscular Therapists (NMTs) are trained in the treatment of a variety of chronic pain conditions including headaches, carpal and tarsal tunnel pain, myofascial pain, shoulder and knee pain, sciatica and lower back pain. NMTs offer a connected wholistic approach to therapeutic interventions that not only treat the area of pain but also the source of that pain. Research has shown that changes in sensations, including pain, burning, tingling, a feeling of water running on your skin, toothache, headache, sciatic pain and more can all be due to myofascial trigger points. NMTs are specialists in the treatment of myofascial trigger points.

What do Neuromuscular Therapists NOT do?

NMTs do not “crack” necks or joints. Those techniques are not reflective of neuromuscular therapy and while we respect our professional colleagues who do provide high velocity thrusts NMTs provide subtle and gentle approaches to restoring pain-free movement.
